President’s Message
by Sandy Esterson, NWC President
What a great time of year! I like to think the worst of the cold and rainy season is just about over and Spring flowers could be
right around the corner!
Board positions are filling up for next year! However, there are still some openings to fill. Did you know that you and a friend
could be co-presidents? Or co-vice-presidents? This concept has worked in the past and gives lots of flexibility in
each position. Please consider. I will gladly talk to anyone interested and help with the transition.
Please remember that if you receive the printed newsletter in the regular mail, it arrives AFTER the online version has been sent out
to all members. For events like monthly luncheons, wine events, and philanthropy parties, spots do often fill quickly. It is necessary
to register for these events when you receive the newsletter online. It is so hard to have folks not be able to attend events we know
they would enjoy, so check your phone or computer and register to reserve your spot! We all must appreciate the difficulties
in finding venues to accommodate larger groups and understand that space is limited for certain activities.
I have been so impressed and gratified to hear of the friendships being made through our club. Several folks have recently
expressed their excitement and surprise at how, by attending a few activities, they have made some special friends and many acquaintances.
At the end of the day, this is the strength and real value of organizations like ours!
As always, your participation in making these opportunities available for others is the only way our club will continue to flourish.
I am feeling confident that members will step up and help us continue to grow!
Till next month,
Sandy

This month's new members are Karen and Carl Twisselman from Salinas, California.

Philanthropy Committee News

The Philanthropy Committee has met and begun the search for candidates for a charity to sponsor next year. The
membership was asked to volunteer any suggestions, and all possibilities were carefully vetted and then discussed in
committee. Following the guidelines in our bylaws, the committee will report three choices to the board. Upon
approval, it will then send the choices to the membership for a vote.
Our present charity, Hunger Fighters, could be included.

Calling all Travel Adventurers!
by Barbra Crumley and
Nancy ONeill
Some feedback from our survey indicated an interest in travel: sharing your experiences, vendor recommendations,
bucket list interests, and establishing a network to interact with each other about travel companions. This network could be a
monthly meeting (in person or virtual) with online postings of do's and don’ts from a recent excursion, or asking members
about considering a travel companion for future travel. Meetings could also include sharing educational information (seminars)
about certain countries, vendors, or travel groups. For us to get this off the ground, we need some interested volunteers
to facilitate the design of this adventure group. If interested, please contact either Barbra or Nancy with your level of
interest, suggestions, and ideas.
Bon Voyage!

Friendship Luncheons
New Groups Forming NOW!
by Lissa Willis and
Carol Jo Bays
Newcomers Friendship Luncheons offer the opportunity to develop new and lasting friendships in a quieter setting,
perfect for conversation. The format is for six to eight ladies to meet monthly, rotating homes (even co-hosting if
space it tight). Each hostess prepares a casual meal for the group, or selects a restaurant at which to meet, with
each member paying for her own lunch. Groups set their own meeting day—for example, second Tuesdays—so that everyone
can mark their calendars ahead.
These smaller lunch gatherings are ideal for getting to know one another better, and new groups are forming all the
time. Please contact us if you wish to join in the fun!

Wine Enthusiasts
by Joanne Nowak
I am so excited to offer this next winery to all of you for our March tasting. Ghost Hill Cellars started as a cattle farm in 1906 and fast forward
to 1999 when some of the family members deciding that they wanted to use some of the acres to try their hand at planting grape vines. Now in 2025 this
multi-generational farm has 235 acres of Willakenzie soil using only 1/3 of the planted vines to make exceptional wine and selling the rest to other
wineries in the Carlton area. The dream of opening an event space/tasting room came to fruition just recently with an amazing modern farmhouse in the
middle of the land that offers magnificent panoramic views.
They are excited to welcome us at Noon on Sunday, March 9th for a tasting of six red, white, and pink wines for $25. We can bring our own food to
enjoy while we hear the history of the family, the land, the wine, and finally get the answer to the question why Ghost Hill? Perhaps a ghost has been
seen?
Please RSVP to me to make your reservation. Boo!!!
Joanne and Marla
